Do you tell yourself that you love yourself?

sometimes in my head, I don’t say it out loud. When I actually do something based on love, I feel that there was zero intentions of anything. It was something really genuine from inside, then I look at myself, and tell me self: ‘good one, love you’

An Interview with Sharon Dodua Otoo about Languages, Political Literature and more..

“yeah so for people to use their own languages from their own cultures from their parents and families from non-german countries and still create in those languages write songs write poetry write novels I think it’s a very political act”

Sharon Dodua Otoo

Sharon Dodua Otoo participated in the project “Die Baustelle. Aus Konservierung wird Konversation”, which aimed to create a democratic space within a museum setting. Otoo, a writer and political activist, contributed new texts to the project. She is known for her prose and essays, and her debut novel “Ada’s Raum” (2021) has been translated into several languages. and in 2016, she won the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize. https://sharonotoo.com/bio

tips on how we talk about love? … well first start talking about it … I feel like most people just assume that everyone has the same idea of love and then you find out on the way that you don’t and then things get very messy, we all have our yes and no-nos and those boundaries should be set in every kind of relationship and without them you can’t be loved properly

Lex

Ley Ghafouri [they/them], also known as Lex, an Iranian-German mixed, independent, and non-binary artist based in Cologne, Germany. Unlocked sound of unlocking threads: Salma Abdo, Fadi Elias

We are all born stars. We just choose how to shine our light. And the best time to do that is after days and long moments of darkness. It’s never my destruction. It’s an everyday birth. I literally feel like I’m born every day. I don’t know if this is related to being transgender or is it just a coping mechanism with reality and pain and dysphoria and transitioning and feeling like I’m the prisoner of a body that I don’t feel completely connected to? Will I ever be strong to look for me in you? I don’t know. I always wanted to be part of society or the mainstream people. Until I discovered that I lived for more than that, I left to stand out and not to fit them, nor fit in. It’s a celebration of diversity. Society’s attitude must change. But I will always look through you.
